Quick As A Wink is seeking summer youth employees for 2020!
Quick As A Wink Theatre Society, located in Windsor, is seeking qualified, energetic, and passionate applicants:
Employment Length:
12-14 weeks, mid-May – late August 2020, grant funding pending
35 hours a week
Qualifications
must be 30 years old or younger (Federal Grant requirement) OR must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary institution for 2019-2020 (Provincial Grant requirement)
experience coaching and working with youth
experience organizing and facilitating lesson plans and/or programs for youth
excellent communication skills and good computer skills
must be reliable and posses excellent organization skills
must have strong leadership qualities and great interpersonal skills
must be able to self-motivate as the employee will often be based out of his/her home
must be flexible and willing to work within a changing work environment
as official social distancing guidelines change, the job requirements will change
weekend hours will be required to participate in potential festivals, parades, and farmers markets
ASSETS
experience or post-secondary studies in theatre, dance, and/or music or equivalent experiences an asset
grade 7 RCM (or equivalent) in piano performance an asset (for at least one of the employees for the summer camp instruction)
experience with power tools an asset
marketing experience an asset
Possible duties include:
Greet and engage visitors in conversations about Quick As A Wink Theatre Society
Co-ordinate the development and planning of the Theatre Youth camps including the rehearsal process, culminating in theatrical performances; two productions for youth ages- 8-12 and one production for youth ages 12-17
Co-ordinate and create online content to provide a part -time virtual theatre experience for youth, if the in-person camps are not able to happen
Create online theatre content by reaching out to actors in the community to create mini plays, storytelling sessions, sing-a-longs, dance offs etc.
Collaborate with the Marketing Department to prepare and assist in promotional tasks that encourage and inform the public on available theatre opportunities within QAAW
Collaborate with the Communications Department to promote Quick As A Wink Theatre Society through social media, print media, phone conversations, radio, person to person communications, and build and maintain the membership database
Invest time in fundraising efforts and network with local business to encourage financial partnership
Work during the first full weekend in August (West Hants Summer Fest)
Work with the Assets Department to maintain grounds
Help with set building/painting projects ongoing throughout the summer
Must have a driver’s license (or have access to reliable transportation)
Must be able to work without direct supervision and as part of a team
Research and policy writing
Research and grant writing
Additional Requirements:
A final report summarizing all the activities and objectives of the employment, as well as the outcomes that were seen as a result from the work done with QAAW
Submission of daily reports outlining task accomplishment and goal setting for work with QAAW
Performing Arts training and experience is an asset
First Aid is an asset
