Our Objective

To educate and increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the arts by providing performances of an artistic nature in public places, and by providing educational seminars, workshops and hands on experience on topics relating to such performances.

Quick As A Wink Theatre Society’s objectives are entirely conducted and achieved by volunteers and non-profit means.

INCLUSIVITY & REPRESENTATION

Quick As A Wink Theatre Society is committed to creating a safe space for people of diverse perspectives, races, sexualities, ages, gender identities, abilities and skills to learn and perform. We believe that it is the responsibility of the theatre to not only reflect back what we see in the world, but what we want to see in the world. At Quick As A Wink, we are actively working on how we can best be an inclusive and representative theatre in a rural community. No matter who you are, you are welcome here.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGeMENT

We respectfully acknowledge that our theatre is located in Windsor, Nova Scotia, on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq. This land is part of Mi’kma’ki, the traditional and present-day homeland of the Mi’kmaq people.

The Mi’kmaw name for the area now known as Windsor is Pesikitk (sometimes cited as Pesegitk), meaning “to flow splitwise” — a reference to the spot where the rising tide of the Avon River branches toward the St. Croix River, a defining feature of this land — a place of connection, sustenance, and movement for generations.

We recognize the Peace and Friendship Treaties signed in this region and honour the Mi’kmaq people as the past, present, and future stewards of this land. We are grateful to live, work, and create here.

We are a registered Charity

Quick As A Wink has been designated as a “Charitable Organization” by the Canada Revenue Agency. We have been granted this status because of our contribution to the community, providing education in theatre-related skills.
