Legally Blonde (Parental Guidance)

Omigod! Harvard’s Beloved Blonde takes the Quick As A Wink Stage by Pink Storm

PARENTAL REVIEW: Sexual Content, Mild Language. While this show contains sexual content and mild language, children should still enjoy this upbeat musical. The story has positive role models, especially for young girls, and positive messages. Most of the adult content will go over the head of children. A preparatory conversation leading into the show and a debrief with your children after may be helpful.

Windsor, NS (May 5, 2019) - Quick As A Wink Theatre Society proudly presents Legally Blonde, book by Heather Hach, music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin.

A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances - this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!

Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

Under the direction of Thea Burton (Oliver!, and Annie), Legally Blonde features local talent and returning Quick As A Wink actors, including Becca Guilderson as Elle (The Music Man, Grease, Into the Woods), Amanda Mullally as Brooke (The Little Mermaid) and, in their QAAW debuts, Jordan Ginn as Emmett and Tyler Craig as Warner.

Shows will take place at Fountain Performing Arts Centre of King’s-Edgehill School in Windsor, May 31, June 1, 7, and 8, at 7:00 p.m. with special matinees on June 2, 3, 7at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at QAAW.ca or by visiting The Spoke and Note in Windsor and Box of Delights Book Shop in Wolfville.

Quick As A Wink Theatre Society is a non-profit, charitable, community theatre group entertaining West Hants, Nova Scotia and beyond. Quick As A Wink’s objectives and performances are conducted and achieved entirely by volunteers and non-profit means.

Quick As A Wink Theatre Society presents Shrek the Musical, directed by Mike Butler with Music Direction by Michael Nelson. Music by Jeanine Tesori, Book and Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire.

Tickets Available Sept 11, 2018 at QAAW.ca, in Windsor at the Spoke & Note, and in Wolfville at Box of Delights Bookshop.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.

"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.

Shrek presents a treasure trove of creative opportunities, including costumes, sets, puppets (there is a fire-breathing dragon after all) and more! Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

Shrek the Musical is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIshows.com
