Hello wonderful blog readers!
This week I am back at camp at the Parish Hall, but this time it is with your Musical Theatre Camp! You've probably seen some great pictures and videos of our campers' progress over on Facebook and Instagram (if not, check them out here and here). I am so impressed with our campers and the work that they have done so far. Today, we continued work we had started yesterday on the harmonies in "Seasons of Love." Everyone was nailing it! They have come so far in our short time together and I can't wait to see how much we can get done by next Friday.
They are also pros at picking up choreography. The wonderful Olivia Lee has been working teaching us some amazing choreography for "Summer Nights" and "Footloose." Everyone is having so much fun. Our greasers are real characters, and have taken to forming a kick-line whenever they're lost for moves. It's hilarious.
Other than singing and dancing, our campers have had lots of opportunity to hone their acting skills. Katrina has been doing some amazing exercises with them and Ally has introduced me to some awesome new improv games. We had some really intense and awkward scenes performed yesterday in our exercise involving space and time. You could feel the tension in the air! I'm very excited to see how our performers apply these skills to their monologues.
In other news, I went to my first Trivia Night at the Spitfire Arms Pub last night, and our team, Quick As A Drink, took home first place! I'm so ready for my chance to host next Tuesday. I've been busy preparing questions and I think my theme will be really fun. Bring your team and $2 to the Spitfire at 7pm on Tuesday and join in our game. I'll be revealing the hint for my theme on our Facebook page Sunday.
I have a lot of music to learn before tomorrow, I have to be ready to accompany our talented stars.
