Today’s “Spotlight” is on a wonderful member of our Quick As A Wink community and one of the directors of our last show, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress; it’s Lisa Lee!
Lisa has been involved with QAAW for roughly six years now. “Out of a love of theatre, I became involved in Quick As A Wink after moving to Nova Scotia from Alberta in 2010 as a costumer for The Odd Couple,” she says. “That is where I first met Brenda Ley. I have since acted, done costumes, make-up, backstage, front of house, and served as a member of the Board and Chair of the Board.”
Quick As A Wink is the source of many of Lisa’s most cherished theatre-related memories. “[I consider my greatest theatre accomplishment to be] volunteering with such an amazing non-profit organization that provides an artistic outlet for our community,” Lisa says. “My entire family is involved in Quick As A Wink; it is a great way to spend time together as a family! Theatre is a great escape into another world. It's magical and entertaining. As an actor, it allowed me to get out of my comfort zone! As a director, it allows my imagination and vision to be interpreted onto the stage.”
Lisa last had the chance to bring a theatrical vision to life by co-directing Five Women Wearing the Same Dress along with Brenda Ley. “My favorite thing was the five strong, amazing women acting in this play,” she says. “They inspire me. This was a darker comedy with strong subject matter, so I hope audiences found the humor and appreciated the content!”
When she isn’t volunteering with Quick As A Wink, Lisa’s favorite past times include spending time with her family and traveling.
Thank you for all your contributions to Quick As A Wink, Lisa! We greatly appreciate all the hard work you have put in over the past six years, and we hope we continue to work with you into the future!
Tomorrow we will be posting our last piece in our “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress Spotlight Series.” We will be transitioning into “Spotlight on …” pieces on those involved in our upcoming production of The Little Mermaid later this week, so stay tuned!
