Summer Student Blog Entry August 8th: Goodbye Until Tomorrow

I’m a little late in writing my final blog post as I was overwhelmed with emotion after reading Meredith’s post on Thursday and needed to take some time to compose myself. Here it is now – better late than never, I suppose!

This summer has been unbelievably exciting and more fun than I could have imagined. I feel like I’ve done a bit of everything, and in the process I learned so much; I’ve blogged, played games, hosted trivia nights, walked in parades, made amazing new friends, advertised, fundraised, worked backstage, made crafts, been a social media presence, and so so much more. I’ve gained so much self-confidence and experience in many fields I had never been involved in before, and had so much fun and made so many new friends.

There is really only one word I can use to describe how I feel today: thankful.

I am thankful for my fantastic co-worker, Meredith; thank you for being the best co-worker a girl could ask for. Your enthusiasm, understanding, and beautiful smile made every day a joy. You made situations that could have been stressful fun and made me a better and happier person simply by being there. You are wonderful, a true friend, and I wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors!

I’m thankful for all of our summer campers for being such caring and hilarious individuals. Your excitement and willingness to learn and grow has been so inspiring to me and your talent is simply blinding.  I hope all of your continue to pursue your passions; each and every one of you is special to me and I feel like a better person for having known you.

I’m thankful for all the parents who leant us their children, the teachers who allowed me to disrupt their classes with my presentations, and for all of our Quick As A Wink supporters who helped make the summer such a wonderful success. I am so appreciative for all you have done and for your unending support.

Most of all, I would like to give my sincere thanks to everyone at Quick As A Wink. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to come back and work for you for a second amazing summer. Thank you for being such passionate and caring employers who inspired me to do my best every day and gave me so many wonderful opportunities and challenges. I have truly been changed for the better and I really cannot thank you enough.

Though my summer job has come to a close, I am very excited to have plans in place to hold two fundraisers for Quick As A Wink before the summer is over, as well as to continue writing the “Spotlight on …” pieces and remain engaged with the wonderful Quick As A Wink community.

It’s been a blast, Quick As A Wink, and I know we have more good times ahead. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Cheers,

Ally
