Today’s Spotlight is on Thea Burton, a passionate actress and the director of our upcoming production of Annie!
Thea first heard of QAAW when someone close to her first became involved with us back in 2012. “My son introduced me to Quick As A Wink through his performance in Jane Eyre,” Thea says. “When I heard they were doing 42nd Street, I knew I wanted to be involved in such a fun show with the role of Dorothy Brock. I had such fun with 42nd Street, I then had to come back for more, and performed in The Secret Garden as the house keeper, and in Cinderella as the Queen Mother!”
Outside of Quick As A Wink, Thea has been involved with theatre for many years and has many accomplishments related to the arts. “I have fond memories of the season I performed at the Atlantic Theatre Festival in Chekov's Three Sisters and Sondheim's Into the Woods,” Thea says. ”However, right now I am working on a production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf that is quite challenging, and the role of a lifetime!”
Thea is also excited for the challenge of directing Annie for QAAW this year. “I am looking forward to working with the experienced and dedicated production team at Quick As A Wink,” she says. “Since my youngest child has gone to university and I am no longer directing shows at the schools, Annie seems like an excellent transition for me. And who wouldn't love to work on a show with such a loving story, hilarious comedy roles, and an adorable dog, not to mention all the talented performers!”
When she is not directing productions or taking the stage herself, Thea loves to camp, go hiking, and spend time with her family and her dogs.
Thank you for all your contributions to Quick As A Wink, Thea! We know you will work very hard on Annie and cannot wait to see the show ourselves come January!
