For some reason, I have recently become a spider magnet.
I’m not sure if the spiders in my immediate surroundings somehow know that I am working on Charlotte’s Web and are all suddenly making their presence known to me thanks to my work on such a pro-spider text, but for whatever reason lately my life has been full of them. Not only that, but every time they make themselves known to me, I am without fail working on something Charlotte’s Web related.
A few days ago, for example, I was scheduling rehearsal blocks for our Drama Camp and was deep in the throes of puzzling out which scenes the actress who plays Charlotte would need to spend the most time working on. Suddenly, I felt something on my lip. Without me noticing, a spider and rappelled down from the ceiling and chosen to take a rest right on my face.
I reacted surprisingly calmly for having a spider on my lip, but remember thinking it was a little strange the spider had chosen this moment to come to visit.
A few days later, I was sitting at my kitchen table and researching crafts I could relate back to Charlotte’s Web when once again a spider dropped down from the ceiling right in front of me. This time I saw it coming in time and moved my face out of the way, so the little guy landed directly on my computer’s touchpad instead. And refused to move.
This again happened during a Charlotte’s Web related task. Weird, huh?
Then today, before I was even on the clock, I was tidying up my bathroom and humming the tune of the song I had written previously to perform at the end of the Charlotte’s Web show. I opened the shower door … and there was another spider. Waiting for me.
I mean, what are the chances?
I don’t know what this means. Maybe spiders are just plentiful this summer and all of this is a coincidence ... Or maybe the spiders are just as excited for Charlotte’s Web as I am!
Though that is definitely the crazier theory, that is the one I am choosing to believe. I mean, who wouldn’t be excited about Charlotte’s Web?
In other related news, our camp auditions begin TONIGHT and I could not be more excited. I love the audition process and cannot wait to cast our camp shows! Expect an update about this and all my last minute camp planning in Friday’s blog post.
See you all next time, and be on the lookout for those drama-loving spiders!
