Today’s Spotlight recipient is the fabulous Elsa Hodder, who took some time out of her incredibly busy schedule to speak with us!
Elsa has been involved with many Quick As A Wink productions, some dating as far back as 2011. She first became acquainted with us through one of our own board members, the lovely Toven MacLean! “I got involved with Quick As A Wink through Toven,” says Elsa. “I had just moved onto the KES campus with my family and she got me involved with Little Women, Little Princess, and many many more!” Elsa has since played Sara in A Little Princess, Beth in Little Women, Blanche Ingram in Jane Eyre, Peggy in 42nd Street, Laurie in Oklahoma!, Lily in The Secret Garden, the beautiful title princess in Cinderella, and most recently the hilarious Sally Brown in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Outside of Quick As A Wink, Elsa has a number of theatre and arts accomplishments that she deeply cherishes. “Performing and winning as title soloist at an international dance competition was a great experience,” says Elsa. “Receiving the best supporting actress award from my time with the Utah Repertory Theatre Company was also a very encouraging achievement, and definitely representing Nova Scotia at the Canadian Music Competition this August will be a remarkable experience as well!”
Elsa is a widely talented and cherished figure in the arts scene, and her future plans can take her in no other direction but up! “This August, as I mentioned earlier, I will be competing in the National Music Competition of Canada. After that I will be moving to Salt Lake City where I will be studying at my dream musical theatre school for the next few years!”
Elsa has a number of roles she would one day love to play. “My dream role is Ariel! I think everyone knows that as I talk about it all the time, haha! I would also love to play Jane in Tarzan, Fiona in Shrek, and Mary Poppins!”
When she isn’t performing, Elsa’s interests don’t stray too far from the stage. “I love playing Celtic music, either by busking or in restaurants,” she says. “I also love to watch and study other musical theatre performers!”
Thank you so much for all your contributions to QAAW, Elsa! We wish you the best of luck on your theatre journey and look forward to the day we see your name up in lights!
